NUTRIENTS AND ACNE

n1
Nutrients as a key player in acne prevention
Vitamin A reduces the production of Sebum and enhances the development of protective skin tissue, it is also a strong anti-oxidant. A deficiency of this vitamin increases one’s chance of developing acne.
Synthesized Vitamin A derivatives called Retinoids are being used quite successfully in the treatment of acne. A Retinoid is just a chemical compound related chemically to vitamin A. Prolonged use can be toxic so careful monitoring is needed. Retinoid medicines are generally used in cases of severe acne and work by decreasing the amount of Sebum produced by regulating the Sebaceous Glands. Another benefit is that the level of bacteria infecting the Sebaceous glands and skin cells is substantially reduced by Retinoid medicines. Vitamin A (which is regarded as being essential for healthy skin) can be found in Citrus fruits, tomatoes and carrots.

Vitamin B-complex
The vitamin B-complex is essential to the body and it also has a lot of benefits for acne sufferers.  Thiamin B1 and Vitamin B3 improve overall circulation within the body which is important for all organs including the skin. Riboflavin B2 acts just like Vitamin A where a deficiency can trigger an acne attack. B5 is known to reduce stress and B6 helps improve the immune system and also produces anti-bodies to fight infection.
Vitamin C
Vitamin C is a water soluble anti-oxidant and it is essential to have the proper levels of this important vitamin in our body at all times. As an anti-oxidant Vitamin C either prevents or minimizes toxin damage to our cells.  As a Detox agent, Vitamin C effectively removes harmful toxins and pollutants from our body. Vitamin C also strengthens the immune system and destroys harmful bacteria and viruses in the body.
Omega 3 Fatty Acids
Omega 3 Fatty Acids are found in fish along with zinc, chromium as a trace element, and selenium. It is a nutrient (according to recent studies from the Lasky Skin Clinic) that has been found to be beneficial in treating acne and it also possess an anti-anxiety effect which is good for reducing the stress that can trigger an acne outbreak.
Chromium and Zinc
Chromium and Zinc pack a lot of benefits for people with acne. They help prevent skin infections, repair damaged skin and go some way toward preventing scarring. Chromium is naturally present in a huge variety of food such as fish, meat, poultry and whole wheat products. However, Chromium is flushed out when food products undergo processing. This is why so many people in the Western world are Chromium deficient due to the fact that most of the food products are processed. A Chromium deficiency can lead to a slow metabolism and also a low level of insulin. Zinc is another important factor in keeping the immune system operating at optimum level and a deficiency of it leads to complications in both adults and children so it is important to make sure we maintain it within the normal levels.
Know when to let go..
We were created with different skin types, so, different treatments should also be observed. It may also do wonders to try certain natural remedies first because they are usually less invasive. They are also a lot cheaper and they do work for a lot of people. It is good to use natural means to manage an acne problem but if the inflammation is severe it is wise to see a dermatologist.
